Who Will Be The Rams’s Season M.V.P?

Training Camp Is Just Two Weeks Away Folks….

You read that right Rams fans, the start of the 2017 season is almost upon us. Will the Rams be able to have their first winning season since 2003? No one can say for sure yet, but there is an article projecting the Rams record coming soon. For now, we are going to take a look at some potential players that could be the Rams’s Season M.V.P. Which player will stand out? Which player will give one great performance after another? Here are three players who have the best chance of becoming the team’s MVP.

1.) Jared Goff

Goff had 5 Touchdowns, 7 Interceptions, and just 1,089 passing yards in 7 games last season. He did not have the season that everyone in the Rams organization was hoping he would. To be fair, Goff had a coaching staff that was more defense oriented. Jeff Fisher’s “run first” game plan wasn’t allowing Goff to develop into the potential superstar he can become. Luckily, there is hope for Goff and Rams fans. Sean McVay was smart enough to surround Goff with coaches that know how to develop quarterbacks. Offensive coordinator Matt LaFluer and Quarterbacks coach Greg Olsen both have well established reputations of developing young quarterbacks into superstars. LaFluer was recently the Quarterbacks coach of the Atlanta Falcons, he had a lot to do with the resurgence of Matt Ryan’s career.  If LaFluer can work his magic on Goff,  we could see a rapid transformation in Goff’s career. Goff could be the centerpiece of this Rams offense and could be well on his way to becoming the teams M.V.P.

2.) Todd Gurley

Another player who under-performed in 2016. Gurley was cursed by the fact that everyone on the defensive side knew he was getting the ball.  Its hard to have a solid rushing attack when there are 8 guys in the box going after you. Averaging only 3.2 yards per carry last season, McVay will have his work cut out for him. The Rams will need to improve the passing game for Gurley to have a major impact. The main concern for the Rams will be the loss of Lance Kendricks, will Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett be able to provide sufficient enough run blocking protection? If this offense can pose a legitimate threat to throw the ball, Gurley might be able to have a breakout year.

3.) Aaron Donald

He was the overall consensus for the Rams 2016 MVP. Aaron Donald looks like he will be even better this year. Donald was also listed #15 on the NFL’S Top 100 players. He  is a dynamic defensive threat who is a constant terror to the opposing team. Donald has extra motivation this season because his contract is expiring and he wants a massive payday. Donald is sure to benefit from Wade Philip’s 3-4 scheme, which will allow Donald to get to the quarterback even more. Until offensive lineman can figure out a way to gain leverage on him, Donald will continue to be a dominant force.  He has the best chance of becoming the Rams Season MVP.

Conclusion

We all hope that this Rams season will turn out better than last year. However, the Rams are going to need all three of these players to have great years in order to establish a winning record.  But if the Rams continue their tradition of losing, it is important to focus on the highlights.
