The Philadelphia Eagles go into Kansas City this week with both passing games looking to be strong after Week 1 action. Injury has plagued the matchup though with Eric Berry, Chiefs premiere safety, going down with a ruptured left achilles tendon. On top of that Philadelphia Eagles starting CB, Ronald Darby, went down in last weeks game against the Redskins with a dislocated ankle. How will this affect the matchup?
Eagles WR vs. Chiefs DB
Coming off of a great performance through the air, Philadelphia is looking to keep the ball rolling against the Chiefs. Zach Ertz and Nelson Agholor are both coming off big games with big time plays in last weeks performance. They look to use this against Marcus Peters and the Chiefs secondary. The injuries have taken Eric Berry away from the competition so Philadelphia shouldn’t have too much of a problem getting their passing game going.
Carson Wentz threw for 307 yards last game and didn’t seem to struggle to find his targets through the air. With the recent injury to the face of their secondary, the Eagles look to have the advantage in this matchup.
Advantage: Philadelphia Eagles
Chiefs WR vs. Eagles DB
Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt, these are the names that you can expect to hear next week. Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs main target, went off last week for 133 yards and 1 touchdown with 7 catches. Travis Kelce didn’t have the most explosive game but looks to improve upon his performance against the Eagles. Even Kareem Hunt, Chiefs RB, is a threat in their passing offense. He had 5 catches, 98 yards, and 2 touchdowns. So as the Eagles look to slow this team down they’ll have to be aware of everyone. On the other side, the Eagles will be looking at Jalen Mills, Rodney McLeod and Malcolm Jenkins to shut down the passing game. Can they do it?
With Ronald Darby hurt this might be more of a task, but it still looks to be a promising matchup. The Chiefs have such a lethal passing game and too many targets to not be successful in this game. Philadelphia will have to look out for Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce who are huge problems, not only that they’ll have to look for the RB coming out of the backfield as well. It just might be a little too much for the Philadelphia Eagles to control especially with the injury to Ronald Darby.
Advantage: Kansas City Chiefs
