Jordin Canada led the Bruins past the Arizona State Sun Devils this afternoon at Pauley Pavilion. Canada scored 16 points and had 10 assists to pick up the double-double, but this game was a team effort.
The first quarter was a battle. There were eight lead changes and two tie scores in just this quarter. Arizona State got out to a quick lead when they went up by 6 with eight minutes left. That would be the Sun Devils’ biggest lead of the game.
The last lead change of the quarter and, in fact, of the rest of the game would occurr when Monique Billings scored on a layup with 1:04 to go in the quarter.
The Bruins opened up a double-digit lead in the second quarter and led by 12 at the half. After the half, the Sun Devils started chipping away at the Bruins’ lead and eventually cut it to just 5.
