Tyler Higbee Looking Great In Camp

The Rams held their second joint practice with the Chargers on Wednesday. Jared Goff is starting to look comfortable in this Sean McVay offense. Multiple reports claim that Goff was making great throws short and long. This is great news for Rams fans, as we saw last year, Goff struggled with downfield throws. There were a couple of standouts during this joint practice. Tyler Higbee had the best day among Rams receivers, hauling in a few long throws from Goff. This seems like a start of something beautiful, the emergence of Tyler Higbee.

Higbee In McVay’s Offense

Tyler Higbee didn’t have an impressive rookie year, and his off-season wasn’t any better. But it looks as if he is finally turning the page. Everyone knows that Sean McVay is a tight ends guy. He is already showing it by creating plays that let Higbee take on the linebacker one on one. This was evident in camp as TurfShowTimes tweeted:

They make a great point, the Rams need more of that action to happen to ignite this offense. Higbee has the athletic build to beat majority of the linebackers in the NFL.  If Goff continues to build this connection with Higbee, we could see the start of a great combination for many years to come.

Pharoh Cooper Having Himself A Great Camp

Cooper turned some heads today, garnering the attention of a few coaches. Cooper hauled in a few long throws from Goff today. If he continues to be a threat downfield, expect him to compete with Cooper Kupp for the 3rd receiver spot. The Rams have not found a reliable downfield threat yet, so if the Rams become frustrated with the lack of production from Tavon Austin and Robert Woods, Cooper could find himself in a starting role. But this is one practice, we need a larger sample size to make such crazy claims. The Rams will play their first preseason game Saturday. Lets see if Higbee and Cooper continue their success.
