Three-star in-state cornerback Cameron Mitchell has committed to Northwestern, he announced on Twitter Tuesday night.

Mitchell hails from Bolingbrook, IL. He is one of the top 20 recruits in the state and while Northwestern was his only Power 5 offer, he was also being recruited by Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Northwestern now has five commits in its 2019 class, including multiple cornerbacks. Mitchell, who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds, joins Rod Heard as CBs in this class. Here are Mitchell’s sophomore year highlights (couldn’t find any from his junior season):

This is an important in-state get for Pat Fitzgerald and co. Mitchell strikes me as the type of athlete who could’ve seen his recruiting heat up seriously this summer if the Wildcats didn’t lock down his commitment.
As I predicted last week, the 2019 class is heating up in March.
