The Syracuse Orange have been very busy on the scheduling front in the last 6-9 months. And the latest move is yet another one to continue filling in SU’s future non-conference schedule.
According to a report from FBSchedules, Syracuse will host the Ohio Bobcats on September 10, 2022. SU will pay $850,000 for the one-off date which… is pretty steep, I’d say.
Ohio has been over-shadowed by some of the MAC’s recent powers (Toledo, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois), but Frank Solich’s club has been among the conference’s most consistent for over a decade now. Since he took over in 2005, the Bobcats have won six games or more all but twice.
All-time, this teams have actually met just twice, which is odd given the teams’ proximity. They last met in 1921, a 38-0 win for SU. Syracuse also beat the Bobcats 73-0 in 1916.
