Continuing his theme of internal promotion, South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp elevated offensive analyst Kyle Krantz to the team’s final assistant spot.
Per new NCAA rules, football programs can now have 10 on-field coaches. Earlier in the offseason, Muschamp indicated that he wanted more help with special teams. Enter Krantz, who will serve as a special teams assistant while also handling duties with nickelbacks and strong-side linebackers.
Currently in his second year with the Gamecocks, Krantz was on staff under Muschamp in his previous stops at Florida and Auburn, and was also a graduate assistant at Kentucky for two seasons. He was last in an on-field role in 2009-10 with his alma mater, Northern Colorado, where he coached linebackers.
South Carolina athletics director Ray Tanner also disclosed extensions, raises, and other salary details for the staff.
