It has been an interesting off-season for the New England Patriots. Much of it has been nothing but speculation.

Will the Patriots trade Jimmy Garoppolo? Will they keep him? How much longer does Tom Brady have? Former NFL tight end and Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe weighed in on this very topic on his morning show Undisputed.

“The Patriots should keep Jimmy Garoppolo. And I know Tom Brady has convinced a lot of people – I read the column that he had in MMQB with Peter King – that he’s going to play five or six more years. He’s convinced all the Patriots fans. I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news, but I will anyway. He’s not playing five or six more years. OK..he might, but he won’t be in a Patriots uniform so let’s just leave that. I give him two more years,” said Sharpe.

Even when Tom Brady wins his fifth Super Bowl and fourth Super Bowl MVP, there always seems to be someone somewhere dissing the greatest of all time. Before Brady’s fourth Super Bowl, many had their doubts of whether the 39-year-old was getting close to the end. After Jimmy Garoppolo was drafted, and the treacherous 2-2 start to the 2014 season, it’s tough to remember seeing a player take over and completely own the league the way Brady has.

My Brady Prediction

Tom Brady isn’t going to last forever, but it’s difficult to doubt him ever again. If he wants to play until he’s 45, then why not? The league has changed so much to the point defenders can’t hit the quarterback anymore.

Hockey is arguably just as physical as football. Jaromír Jágr is somehow still playing at the age of 45 and still producing. Brady will eventually slip, but he appears to be following in Jágr’s footsteps being able to produce and still be relevant at his age.
