WR Sammy Watkins has experienced his share of bumps and bruises during his first two seasons in the NFL. In late April, Watkins had surgery to repair a small broken bone in his foot, which included the insertion of a screw.

When asked about the status of his return for training camp, the third-year wideout was tentative in his response on Saturday. “You never know. Be very skeptical about it,” said Watkins. “Right now I feel good, but I got to go back and train and rehab. Hopefully it feels good when I run and everything like that. I haven’t ran in three or four weeks. Hopefully I’ll feel good about it and I’ll be on the field.”

If team officials decide to hold Buffalo’s top receiving threat out of training camp, Watkins expects to be at full strength for Week 1. “Hopefully I’ll be back. If I’m not, then cool. Get ready for the first game.”

Despite missing three games in 2015, Watkins set career highs in yards (1,047), yards per catch (17.5) and touchdowns (9).
