Philadelphia Eagles Interested in Trading for Brandin Cooks
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in trading for wide receiver Brandin Cooks. The Eagles’ biggest positional need is wide receiver and this trade makes the most sense in their current situation.
Brandin Cooks is still under his rookie contract so his salary is only a mere $1.56 million in 2017. Being that he is so cheap, Cooks is a very reasonable acquisition for the Eagles.
The former first round draft pick reeled in 78 receptions for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Cooks is a player who can stretch the field and give other receivers the space they need to (hopefully) catch more balls in traffic.
Making the Right Moves
The Eagles need to make more cap space if they want to acquire additional players this offseason. This is another reason why a trade for Cooks could be majorly beneficial. If the Eagles were to trade away some high salary players for him, the Eagles would be able to dump off cap while acquiring a major threat.
The Eagles are not alone though. The Tennessee Titans are also interested in Cooks’ services. While the Titans have more cap space and would be a more likely spot for him to land, Eagles fans should remain optimistic given that the Eagles are making moves to improve their wide receiving corps.
