It was a disaster. That’s one way of describing the perfomance the Green Bay Packers put forth on Monday Night Football last night against the Detroit Lions. With the team coming off a bye the Packers looked dazed and confused in their 30-17 loss to the Lions.

The loss drops the Packers to 4-4. The Packers season is far from over, but the humiliating loss has many Packers fans looking ahead to 2018. Which means it’s the perfect time to publish my first Packers big board of the season.

Green Bay’s general manager, Ted Thompson appears to have found key pieces with his first two picks last year when he selected Kevin King and Josh Jones in the second round. Now what will the Sly Silver Fox do in the 2018 draft?

In my weekly mock draft I have the Packers on the clock with the 16th pick. I have them taking Harold Landry out of Boston College.

It’s painfully obvious that the Packers need help at outside linebacker. Clay Matthews is nearing the end of his career and he longer strikes fear into teams coming off the edge. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have value for this defense.

Nick Perry leads the team with 3.5 sacks. Through eight games that’s just not good enough.

Enter Landry. Landry would give this pass rush a jolt.

Landry has all the tools to become the player to help this Green Bay defense turn the corner. They have pieces in place to become a top 15 defense. With a player like Landry in the fold Green Bay could be on their way to having an elite defense.
