Giants Defense Is A Great Fantasy Option Against the Bears
Despite the Giants defense being much improved from a season ago, they haven’t been considered a top fantasy defense because of their low sack total. But this week they’re playing a Bears team that will be without their best receiver Alshon Jeffery, and have a quarterback in Jay Cutler that’s prone to turning the ball over.
So the Giants defense should be considered a top eight fantasy defense this week.
Although the Giants are currently 30th in the league in sacks with 14, their pass rush has picked recently. During the Giants four game winning streak, they’ve sacked opposing quarterbacks 10 times. Last week the Bears gave up four sacks in their 36-10 loss to the Tampa Buccaneers. Look for Jason Pierre-Paul, Olivier Vernon and the rest of the Giants defense to come up with a few sacks on Sunday.
The Giants defense has also been better as of late forcing turnovers. The Giants defense has forced seven turnovers over their last three games.
Another reason why the Giants defense is a great fantasy option this week is because they’re facing a Bears team that’s scored just 141 points this season (15.6 points per game). Only the Los Angeles Rams have scored fewer points. The Bears have also never scored more than 23 points in any game this season. Expect the Giants to keep the Bears at or below their scoring average.
So if you’re in need to pick up a defense on the waiver wire this week, the Giants defense is a great option.
