Don’t Look Now but the Cowboys have the #1 Secondary in the NFL
The Dallas defense has spent the season pushing through adversity. Despite being called a “no name defense” and not having an elite pass rusher, they’ve come through as one of the most underrated defenses in the NFL. They boast the #1 rush defense and now can add the title of #1 secondary to the list.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Cowboys have the best secondary in the league. Despite losing safety Barry Church for four weeks with a broken arm, and cornerback Morris Claiborne spending the last 10 weeks recovering from a groin injury, the secondary has come together with a “next man up mentality.” Underdogs like safety J.J. Wilcox and rookie Anthony Brown have come up clutch for Dallas this season.
What’s more impressive is that the Cowboys started out the season graded 30th on the same list. They may be a “no name defense” but as Sean Lee recently said in his Finish This Fight video, “We may be a no name defense, but that’s because our defense is our name.”
Dallas will host the Packers at AT&T Stadium against a weakened Packers wide receiving corps on January 15.
