Offensive Player of the Year: Julio Jones

  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • Receptions: 136
  • Yards: 1,871
  • Average: 13.8 yards/rec
  • Touchdowns: 8

“It’d be an understatement to say that Julio Jones had a great 2015 season. Racking up 1,871 yards, the star wide out led the NFL in receiving, set a new Falcons franchise record, and placed second on the NFL’s all-time list for receiving yards in a single season. Along with his record setting amount of yards, Jones scored eight touchdowns, the most since 2012. Along with making his third Pro Bowl, Julio Jones was named an NFL first-team All-pro in 2015.”

Defensive Player of the Year: Desmond Trufant

  • Position: Cornerback
  • Solo Tackles: 35
  • Assisted Tackles: 7
  • Sacks: 1
  • Fumbles Recovered: 2
  • Interceptions: 1
  • Passes Defended: 11

“Even though he’s not getting as much media attention as the cornerbacks Josh Norman and Richard Sherman, Desmond Trufant is becoming one of the elite defensive backs in the NFL. Proof of this can be found by watching the film of Atlanta’s week two contest against the New York Giants. Two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Eli Manning did not throw in Desmond Trufant’s direction the entire game. In fact, the 2013 first round pick was one of the least targeted corners in 2015.  As more time goes by, Trufant should gain more notoriety.”

The Atlanta Falcons finished the regular season with a 8-8 record and will have the 17th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
