New England Patriots Needs: Pre-Draft
New England Patriots Pre-Draft Needs
The New England Patriots spent the first few days of free agency being very quiet. While all of the most desirable prospects were off of the board, the New England Patriots waited. Then the Patriots started making moves as they began acquiring a variety of players to fill their open holes in the roster.
1. Offensive Line.
The Patriots added former first round selection Jonathan Cooper from Arizona weeks ago. But that was the only offensive lineman the Patriots added to their roster. The Patriots need to keep beefing up their line to add more protection for Tom Brady and the running game. Donavon Clark, Taylor Decker, and Chase Farris are potential prospects for New England.
2. Running Back.
The Patriots added Donald Brown to their running back position but I do not believe that he will make the team because this has happened before. The Patriots have added a player before with good hopes that he will be productive but ended up getting released. So, with that being said, the Patriots need to look at the running back group in the draft. One prospect the Patriots could look into is Notre Dame running back CJ Prosise.
3. Defensive Back.
The NFL has become a passing league and to have a good secondary is essential. The Patriots have Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Devin McCourty, Pat Chung among other second year players who were injured last season. The draft has a deep secondary class this year including Cyrus Jones out of Alabama, Zack Sanchez from Oklahoma and RJ Williamson.
