You could call it the calm before the summer storm. Translation: The New Orleans Saints are just about a month away from training camp.

There’s some down time for all 32 NFL teams these days. But it won’t be long before the New Orleans Saints will be heading to training camp. A brief look at where, when and what to expect from the team. If you’re looking for a complete list of dates for each club, you can click here.

Location: New Orleans Saints Training Facility, Metairie, LA

Arrival Date for Rookies: July 19

Arrival Date for Veterans: July 26

Be on the Lookout For: How head coach Sean Payton and his staff handle the impending running back battle between newcomer Adrian Peterson and incumbent Mark Ingram. We saw the all-time leading rusher for the Minnesota Vikings limited to only three games in his final year with the club. After 10 seasons (give or take some long lapses), how much is left for one of the great runners in the game’s annals. Regardless, Ingram doesn’t plan on going down without a major say in the matter.

The other issue big issue surrounding the club as they enter summer is the state of the offensive line. With left tackle Terron Armstead on the shelf due to shoulder surgery and center Max Unger on the mend as well, Payton is hoping he has enough bodies to get through the preseason. The Saints recently signed center Chris Watt, a former member of the Chargers, and he joins a contingent that will try and hold down the fort until the starters are healthy.

Last but not least, there is hopefully some progress made when it comes to the defense. Will Nick Fairley be able to continue his football career? The club recently added Tony McDaniel as an insurance policy.
