The Philadelphia Eagles signed Bengals practice squad kicker Jake Elliot Tuesday afternoon

Eagles kicker Caleb Sturgis has been placed on injury reserve.

College Career

Jake Elliot hit 78% of his field goal attempts through out his four years as a Memphis Tiger. Currently, Elliot holds the American Athletic Conference records for career points with 445,  and made field goals with 81. Jake was the Bengals 5th round selection this year, but lost the job to Randy Bullock. Elliot had a near perfect camp for the Bengals, showing great consistency and almost hitting a 60 yard field goal during their last preseason game.

Role with Eagles

Sturgis is expected to be out at least four weeks due to a strained hip flexor. He reportedly suffered this injury on the opening kick of the Redskins game. Elliot finally has his NFL opportunity, as he will take over all kicking responsibilities. For the fantasy players who had Sturgis as their kicker like myself, Elliot won’t be a bad pick up to replace him. The Eagles offense looks like they will be moving the ball all year, allowing Elliot an opportunity to score a lot, similar to his college days.
