In perhaps the biggest recruiting victory of Dave Doeren’s tenure, NC State landed a verbal from big-time in-state defensive end prospect Savion Jackson. The Clayton (NC) High School standout picked the Wolfpack over South Carolina, Clemson, UNC, and Virginia Tech, which were his other finalists.

Jackson is a consensus four-star recruit and a top-50 player in the 2019 recruiting class. Top 50 in the entire country, that is. Dude is legit. He is considered one of the top handful of players in North Carolina in this cycle. And NC State managed to keep him home.
Going back to last year’s class, the Wolfpack has done an outstanding job of keeping high-level talent in the state. The Pack kept four-star kids from Wake Forest Ricky Person and Raleigh (Alim McNeill) from getting out of its back yard, which is an encouraging sign of progress.
