Adam Shaheen is being referred to as “Baby Gronk”.

There is no denying that Gronk is one of a kind and Shaheen is nowhere close to his level yet. This will surely put pressure on Shaheen from the get go. Many fans have not heard of the tight end out of Ashland University.  In the past 2 seasons he put up close to 1,700 yards with 26 touchdowns. Shaheen broke the single season TD record at Ashland with 16 last year. Those who do know Adam Shaheen know him as a prospect with upside potential. The consistent production gave NFL owners a confidence that this upside was no fluke. The production was great, but what really allowed him to shine was his size and athletic ability. The rookie TE stands at 6’6, weighs 278 lbs, and looks much more like an offensive lineman. However, he runs a 4.79 40-yard dash and has silky smooth hands.

What Does Adam Shaheen Need to Work On?

Adam Shaheen has huge potential, but there is room for improvement. His route running is assignment number one.  Along with route running, he will need to work on his blocking ability. The raw talent will allow Shaheen to be successful, but to be anywhere close to Gronk it will take more. If Shaheen can be three-fourths of a Gronk then Chicago Bears fans will be extremely happy.  Although he may not get the starting job right out of the gate, he is a player to keep an eye on. I see him playing a very big role in the red zone and in the Bears success this season. The Chicago Bears have Zach Miller and Dion Sims, but many are counting on Adam Shaheen in 2017.
