Storm Norton has had a strange few days. The Detroit Lions offensive tackle was promoted to the active 53-man squad on Saturday, only to be declared inactive for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. 24 hours later, the team cut him to make room for Nick Bellore, who was released a few days prior.
Now Norton is back again with the team, as the Lions announced Norton has re-joined Detroit’s practice squad. To make room for the transaction, the Lions waived seventh-round draft pick Pat O’Connor.
O’Connor, a rookie out of Eastern Michigan, had struggled to make an impact at defensive end during the preseason. He was eventually passed over by two undrafted rookies—Alex Barrett and Jeremiah Valoaga—both of whom are still on the Lions’ 53-man roster.
With O’Connor now on the waiver wire, the Lions have parted ways with two of their 2017 draft picks.
