Unlike former teammates Sebastian Joseph (Rams) and Kemoko Turay (Colts), Robert Martin did not hear his name called on draft day. But like many other Rutgers players, Martin did enough to earn a rookie minicamp tryout, his with the New York Giants. And as Janarion Grant was able to do a week ago, Martin also did enough to earn a spot on his team’s 90 man offseason roster.

The last Rutgers player to be a member of the Giants was Andrew Turzilli, who played just one season at RU, compared to Martin’s four seasons of productivity. Martin was never a full-time starter, but still managed to crack the Scarlet Knights’ top ten with 2,274 career rushing yards. Robert burst on the scene as a true freshman with three touchdowns against division rival Indiana to assure bowl eligibility for Rutgers in 2014.
