After two seasons at Iowa State which featured relatively little playing time, junior-to-be guard Jakolby Long will be transferring.

Iowa State announces that Jakolby Long is transferring.— Alex Halsted (@AlexHalsted) March 13, 2018

The move doesn’t necessarily come as a complete shock, as Long’s already limited playing time was likely set to decrease due to the introduction of Marial Shayok and Michael Jacobsen next season, along with a stellar recruiting class that will feature at least two players competing for immediate rotation spots.
Long’s transfer opens a roster spot which could be used for transfer at some point next season, or possibly another addition to the incoming freshman class, though this seems unlikely as it would only recreate the roster imbalance that played a part in the struggles of this year’s team.
