The Jacksonville Jaguars add to their outstanding defense by signing safety Jeron Johnson.

Sunday, the Jags announced the addition of seventh-year safety Jeron Johnson. To make room on the roster for Johnson, Jacksonville released third-year safety James Sample.

Jeron Johnson was signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and was a member of the Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII Championship team. Johnson has recorded 64 career appearances, 75 tackles, and two sacks in his seven year career.

It’s no secret that the Jags defense is the teams strong point. The signing of Jeron Johnson follows the Jacksonville Jaguars newest trend of adding experienced players to their young, but talented, defense. The Jags also added Barry Church, Calais Campbell, and AJ Bouye this offseason.

The Jaguars active roster currently lists 90 players.

My name is Breanna and I'm a Florida native that ran away to Atlanta to become a sports journalist. If I had a dollar for every game the Jacksonville Jaguars have lost in my lifetime, I wouldn't have to be their lead writer at Pro Football Spot. When I'm not passionately defending the Jags, I'm also PFS's ACC Conference Manager. You can typically find me obstacle course racing, making adventures out of absolutely nothing, staying up all night to finish a book, watching Florida State football, or smack-talking like my life depends on it.
