The Indianapolis Colts have added to their pass rush again. They’ve signed former Houston Texans outside linebacker John Simon to a three-year deal worth $13.5 million and $5.5 million guaranteed.

Last season, Simon recorded 3.5 sacks for the Texans while playing behind Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus. Colts general manager Chris Ballard has clearly made it a priority to upgrade the outside linebacker position, with this signing along with the Barkevious Mingo signing yesterday.

Current Outside Linebackers

Akeem Ayers, Mingo, Simon, Curt Maggitt, Lavar Edwards, Deiontrez Mount and Alex Bazzie. Not a lot of difference makers but a lot of depth as well.

Going Forward

The Colts do need a difference-making pass-rusher, and they likely won’t find one in free agency. So, that’s still a need going into the draft. Also, according to Mike Reiss, Jabaal Sheard is scheduled to have a visit with the Colts on Friday. He could be a solution to the Colts’ pass-rushing problems as well.
