The Steelers seem down and out again at 5-7. Can they make the playoffs again?
The Pittsburgh Steelers seem like they are just done again after a 22-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night to fall to 5-7. It's actually not the end of the road for the Steelers. They actually have a pretty decent schedule down the stretch. How can they get in? Let's examine.
Pittsburgh's has four remaining games on their schedule and three out of those four are at home which is very good because they're usually outstanding at home each season. This week they play the Miami Dolphins who are also in the hunt for that last playoff spot. Miami beat the Jets today 23-3. This is a game the Steelers MUST have if they are to have a tiebreaker over the Dolphins for the final playoff spot. Miami has not been good after starting out 3-0 as they have lost six of their last nine games. Expect a good game next week.
The next week Pittsburgh will host the Cincinnati Bengals in their 2nd meeting this year. The Bengals won 24-10 in week two of this season. Ben Roethlisberger is 3-2 against Andy Dalton this year who has reached a new level of stink this year. Ben is going to want revenge on the Bengals since they knocked the Steelers out of going to the playoffs last season in week 16.
Next up on the schedule is Green Bay which may be tricky for Pittsburgh. This game is on the road. If Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers back, they will most likely lose this game because Green Bay is just so different with him since he's one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. If he doesn't play, the Steelers win easily jut like what the Lions did to the Packers on Thanksgiving. Steelers will also face them for the first time since losing to them in the Super Bowl so they're going to want this game really bad.
The last week of the season seems like a dream come true for the Steelers. They play Cleveland at home again as they beat the Browns already this year 27-11. If they win their four remaining games, the Steelers are in the playoffs in my book. It's very possible but it's a long road ahead. We'll see how it plays out.
