Houston Texans Announce Front Office Changes
News broke last week about Brian Gaine, then director of player personnel for the Houston Texans, leaving to join the Buffalo Bills’ front office. Thursday afternoon, the Houston Texans announced changes in the front office structure of the organization. The team has hired former Colts’ VP of football operations Jimmy Raye III to replace Gaine. Raye III will take over as the team’s Assistant General Manager.
That wasn’t the only change made to the front office structure. The team also announced the promotion of Rob Kisiel to director of pro personnel. Kisiel has been with the Texans’ working as their national scout. He has been with the organization dating back to when current NFL Network analyst Charley Casserly oversaw the Texans.
Houston Texans Take:
The moves are a blend of continuity with Kisiel being promoted from within. However, the team has new blood in the front office with the hiring of Raye III. The hiring of Jimmy Raye III is an interesting choice. He has worked with the division rival Indianapolis Colts for the last 4 seasons. Prior to that, he helped with the San Diego Chargers’ front office. He is seen by many of his colleagues as a bright mind who is a great evaluator of talent. After losing a talent evaluator in Brian Gaine, the team is wasting no time in bringing in a replacement.
As the offseason continues, look for the team to look to their new hires to help immediately. They will look for diamonds in the rough during training camp. The new hires will also be responsible for determining the roster cuts, trade acquisitions, and free agency signings that inevitably occur during training camp. With that in mind, it will be a situation to monitor as the team braces to defend their AFC South Title in 2017.
