The Steelers are getting ready to take on the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday. Here are some quick hits from Friday:
The Steelers have officially ruled out Jerald Hawkins with his knee injury. Bud Dupree, who showed up on the injury report on Thursday with a shoulder injury, has been ruled questionable for Sunday, but some in the local media have said it could be an ankle injury as well. Dupree was limited on Thursday and he didn’t practice at all on Friday. Anthony Chickillo would start for Dupree if he can’t go. Even with Dupree potentially missing on Sunday, the Steelers have got to be one of the healthiest teams heading into the season.
The Browns have ruled out No. 1 draft pick Myles Garrett. Garrett suffered an ankle injury on Wednesday in practice, and he will have to wait to get his hands on Ben Roethlisberger. Garrett has been adamant about his desire to get after Ben, but unfortunately for the Browns, their talented pass rusher will miss Sunday’s game. Also, Danny Shelton, who has started to come into his own, is deemed questionable for Sunday. Shelton has been limited all week with a knee injury that he has been dealing with for quite some time.
The Steelers have said all week that with rookie DeShone Kizer starting for Cleveland, they are preparing to face head coach Hue Jackson. Pittsburgh has faced Jackson quite a few times and with Kizer being a rookie, you can understand why they would focus on Jacksons’ philosophies.
We will give our thoughts on how the Steelers should attack the Browns offensively and defensively on Saturday.
