The Dolphins have their first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday. Here are some players to watch in this preseason.

Raekwon McMillan

McMillan will be thrust into the starting role as a rookie. Thanks to injuries at the linebacker position, The Dolphins’ 2017 first round pick has an opportunity to make an impact immediately. As the middle linebacker, he is the “quarterback” of the defense. He has the responsibility of calling plays and making sure the defense is all on the same page. Coaches will be keeping an eye on McMillan to see if he can handle calling the shots so early in his career.

Laremy Tunsil

Tunsil is moving into his second season with the Dolphins and is switching positions. He is moving from guard to tackle. There has been some skepticism about how well Tunisl will play a different position. However, others have cited that he played tackle in college, so moving back to his original position would be better. Look out for Tunsil to continue to be a bright spot on a not so good line.

Leonte Carroo

Caroo is listed as second team receiver on the Dolphins depth chart. The starters, Landry, Stills and Parker likely won’t see much of the field in the preseaon, so the is his chance to shine. Carroo only had 29 yards last season. He will need to show that he deserves more chances during the preseason.

Brandon Doughty

With Tannehill already out and Cutler coming out of retirement and off of an injury, Doughty might be called upon during the regular season. Doughty has no regular season experience so he will need to make the most of his preseason playing time. He and David Fales will likely see the most playing time out of the quarterback group. Doughty is already listed above Fales on the depth chart. If he performs well, he will keep his spot as the third quarterback.
