Lions Defensive End Armonty Bryant has been suspended four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. It’s the third time Bryant has been suspended since the 2016 season.
Bryant was suspended for the first four games of last season for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs. After the suspension was over ,the Browns released him and the Lions claimed him off waivers in October.
The former 7th-round pick was then suspended three games in November as a member of the Lions for violating the substance abuse policy.
Bryant is eligible to play in all of the Lions upcoming preseason games. His first game back in the regular season, assuming he’s still on the roster, will be week 5 at home against the Carolina Panthers.
Bryant appeared in five games for the Lions last season. and he actually made the most of his opportunity. His three sacks and one forced fumble earned him a one-year $855,000 contract with the Lions this past off season.
After being suspended again, Bryant will need a stellar 12 games for the Lions to believe he’s worth bringing back in 2018. If the team wants to cut him during the season Bryant only carries a $40,000 dead cap value.
