Earlier in the day head coach Jason Garrett stated that Sean Lee, Orlando Scandrick, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and Darren McFadden would all have today’s practice off. Tyron Smith was also being held out due to back tightness. Garrett wasn’t sure if Smith would practice tomorrow either when he spoke to media following morning walk through.
It was later tweeted by Dallas Morning News’ Brandon George that Smith wouldn’t be practicing much over the next two weeks.
The Cowboys are shutting down Tyron Smith for another extended stretch because of sore back, meaning he'll practice twice in 14-day stretch.

For the afternoon session the secondary was looking pretty thin. Joining Scandrick as spectators were Jourdan Lewis (hamstring), Anthony Brown (hamstring) and Marquez White. Cedric Thornton, who reportedly is dealing with a hamstring issue as well was suited up for practice.
Jaylon Smith participated at middle linebacker with the first team defense during the walk through portion of practice. He was given yesterday’s practice off. He was looking rather quick in linebacker drills.
Jaylon was very active during team drills dropping into coverage and reacting on a couple passes to Zeke. Knocking him to the ground on one instance.
With the injury to Tyrone Crawford the Dallas Cowboys are really going to be counting on players like Demarcus Lawrence to step up. He has been looking explosive as of late in team drills and practice.

During receiver drills Brice Butler went down and was attended by the medical staff. He was taken to the medical tent for further evaluation as David Helman of the Dallas Cowboys website reported.

Byron Jones is continuing to make plays in practice picking off a Dak Prescott pass that came off Ezekiel Elliott’s hands. He returned that pass for a touchdown during early team drills.
