Dallas Cowboys Practice Notes

For the second straight day Ryan Switzer was back on the practice field for morning walkthrough. He was working with the second team offense which indicates that he is getting closer to participating in padded practice. He has been nursing that hamstring injury that occurred last week.

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Rico Gathers since his performance in the Hall of Fame Game last Thursday. Head Coach Jason Garrett stated that Gathers would see plenty of snaps over the next four weeks. If he is able to build on that performance, it makes it increasingly unlikely to hide him on the practice squad again this year.

Linebacker Jaylon Smith sat out the afternoon practice but will be participating in Wednesday’s practice. When asked if Smith will see action in preseason games, Garrett answered “absolutely”. The Cowboys need his presence in the middle of this defense.

The video of the day comes from Dave Helman of Dallas Cowboys website. Maliek Collins is showing going up against Zack Martin and doing something we aren’t accustomed to seeing.

The Dallas Cowboys had a special visitor when former player now turned analyst took in the sites of practice. As play by play announcer said he looks like he could still suit up.

Anthony Brown was not in pads again today after suffering a hamstring injury in the Hall of Fame Game. Rookie cornerback Jourdan Lewis isn’t expected to practice this week while he recovers from his hamstring injury. The word  being that he still needs a few days and puts his status for Saturday’s game against the Rams in question.

During practice defensive end Tyrone Crawford went down with a right leg injury after he collided with Ezekiel Elliott. He was carted to the locker room for further evaluation. Crawford rolled his ankle and he was very frustrated at the time.
