If you had the Colts’ defense in fantasy football last year, you probably didn’t take home the trophy.
Indianapolis ranked 30th in the league in opponent points per game, 31st in sacks, and finished 19th in takeaways per game.
The Colts did change their coaching staff next season, which will bring a new defensive scheme to town. New defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus will be running a 4-3 defense in 2018.
If Eberflus runs a similar scheme as the Cowboys did when he was in Dallas, Indianapolis will probably be more of a “bend don’t break” defense. The Cowboys weren’t extremely aggressive with the blitz, and we could see a similar philosophy with the Colts next season.
That type of scheme usually doesn’t lead to many sacks or turnovers, which are obviously essential in becoming a good fantasy football defense.
