On Wednesday, Indianapolis Colts safety Clayton Geathers took to Instagram and posted something that should bring Colts fans some optimism.
Geathers suffered a concussion and injured neck in 2016, and he missed the final seven games. He had surgery in March to repair what was revealed to be a bulging disk after it failed to heal on its own. Geathers has missed all of the Colts’ offseason program and minicamp due to the recovery. Head coach Chuck Pagano and general manager Chris Ballard have been noncommital on the timetable for Geathers’ return. Many have speculated about his future, ranging from missing a few games to start the 2017 season, all the way to if he could ever return to play.
Athletes taking to social media to post pictures with quotes similar to Geathers’ is nothing new. However, does this mean that Geathers will be cleared to play soon, if not already? Or, is it just another post that an athlete has made who is excited to get back on the field while in the offseason? The comments on Geathers’ post certainly seem to think the former, but we won’t know for until we hear something from Geathers, Pagano or Ballard.
