Chicago Bears Defensive Line Ranked 28th in NFL.

The Chicago Bears defensive line has to improve in 2017, there’s no denying that. However, the additions the Bears made over the offseason has to leave some scratching their heads with this rank. The defensive line is stronger and the secondary improved, but many are still doubting the teams ability to stop the run. If the defense can stay healthy this year, fans have to expect them to be better in 2017.

On the other side of things, there are some fans that believe this is the year the Bears take a big leap in the right direction. With the addition of Jaye Howard and a healthy Eddie Goldman this team is scary; plus, we did not even get to the fact that Akiem Hicks played at a pro bowl level last year. Another strength this year is going to be the outside linebackers: Pernell McPhee, Leonard Floyd, Willie Young, and Lamarr Houston.

What to Expect?

Looking at just the statistics from last season it is hard to argue with the ranking, if you add in all of the new additions and healthy players, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Moreover, This is going to take everyone performing and staying healthy. We will see as the season goes on just where this defense stands. With an improving offense, that means the defense needs to come to play this year. I believe that the offense will be able to score points, but the defense will have to do their job to keep the team in games. Do not expect this bunch to drastically improve into a top 5 defense; however, expect a big improvement. I won’t be surprised if the Bears finish top 10 in the NFL this season on defense.
