With training camp quickly approaching, there will be plenty of dissection of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense. It’s no argument, though, that the addition of Calais Campbell this offseason is a steal that will only prove beneficial for the Jags.

The 30 year old defensive tackle signed a 4 year, $60 million contract with Jacksonville in early March. As a featured member of the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2017, Campbell brings a veterans approach to a young defense that will benefit from both his talent and leadership.

Boasting 56.5 career sacks, Campbell recorded 53 tackles, an interception, and two forced fumbles with the Arizona Cardinals in 2016.

In addition to the Jags 2016 pickup of Malik Jackson, Jacksonville’s defensive line adds strength with Calais Campbell.

My name is Breanna and I'm a Florida native that ran away to Atlanta to become a sports journalist. If I had a dollar for every game the Jacksonville Jaguars have lost in my lifetime, I wouldn't have to be their lead writer at Pro Football Spot. When I'm not passionately defending the Jags, I'm also PFS's ACC Conference Manager. You can typically find me obstacle course racing, making adventures out of absolutely nothing, staying up all night to finish a book, watching Florida State football, or smack-talking like my life depends on it.
