According to Ian Rapoport, the Texans have committed to Benardrick McKinney as a player to build around, signing him a five-year extension worth $50 million ($21 million guaranteed).

The #Texans have locked up standout LB Benardrick McKinney to a 5-year contract extension worth $50M, sources said. He gets $21M guaranteed. This was a priority for the offseason, keeping a defensive stalwart on the books. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) June 15, 2018

McKinney was entering the final season of his rookie contract and is now signed to play for the Texans until the end of the 2023 season. The $21 million in guaranteed money keeps one of Houston’s defenders in Battle Red for a long time.
McKinney has started every game in the last two seasons and has recorded 8.0 sacks over that two-year period. He’s the leading tackler for the team over the last two seasons.
