Last year, Bears’ fans were excited to see the signing of wide receiver Eddie Royal; not only did the Bears finally get a true slot receiver, the prior chemistry from Cutler and Royal in Denver was coming to Chicago. Royal never got a chance to showcase anything due to the fact he was injured off and on the entire 2015 season. He did appear in 9 games but his action was limited, as were the majority of the Bears wide receivers. By the end of the season, they were grabbing practically fans out of the stands, slapping a jersey on their back and starting them due to the total depletion of any form of a receiving corp.
Entering 2016, Kevin White and Alshon Jeffrey are grabbing all the headlines as they should; if these 2 outside receivers remain healthy, Jay Cutler will be a happy man. Don’t forget about Eddie Royal, if he can remain healthy, look for a lot of opportunities for Cutler and Royal to hook up once again. The coverage on White and Jeffrey will be heavy, leaving the slot open for Royal to reap the benefits.
He isn’t flashy and he is prone to dry spells, but make no mistake, Eddie Royal will contribute in a very big way for the Chicago Bears in 2016.
