It didn’t matter this was the first game for the Oakland Raiders, or that their starters didn’t suit up. The second preseason game for the Arizona Cardinals was pleasing.
From the first kick-off to the final snap the Cardinals team looked fired up and ready to play. Carson Palmer had some timing issues but still showed glimpses off what things will look like this season; as did David Johnson. Johnson runs with such amazing force, it makes Cardinals fans smile and defenses cringe. Here are some players I feel stood out the most yesterday.
Drew was ready to play this game. Stanton came out in the 2nd quarter with precision and confidence. Drew Stanton completed 11-15 passes, 112 yards and 1 TD. His touchdown pass was a beautiful step up in the pocket 7- yard strike to Troy Niklas. Stanton made some excellent throws under duress in his 1 quarter of playing time. With this performance, it looks like the Cardinals have their quarterback rotation set. Palmer, Stanton, Gabbert!

Right from the opening kickoff, the tone was set! Kerwynn Williams received the ball and fired straight for the open hole. The Cardinals players made all their blocks and Williams made it to the 33-yard line with ease. I saw Bruce Arians shaking his head in acknowledgement with a job well done. Williams looked good during his time as the returner. The Special teams had a blocked field goal in the first quarter. Punters Wile and Leone both had kicks over 60 yards and Phil Daws0n hit two field goals and 2 extra points. Special teams were special today.
I think the Wide receivers and tight ends played great yesterday. They ran some real nice routes and were open when the Cardinals quarterbacks needed them to be open. The man who stood out the most to me was Brittan Golden. Brittan seemed to shine in this game. Golden ran crisp routes and plays. He caught 3 balls for 44 yards, one being a 26-yard strike. Golden also caught a nice touchdown pass from Carson Palmer in the first quarter and got popped right after. He bounced right up and was fired up.
