Wednesday and Thursday New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola practiced, although it was limited.

Even though, the Patriots have two other good receivers in Chris Hogan and Brandin Cooks, quarter back Tom Brady doesn’t have a good connection yet with Cooks.

During the Patriots week 1 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Amendola was taken out of the game due to concussion protocol. Even though, Amendola only played half the game he was able to put up promising numbers. Danny Amendola had six receptions for 100 yards. In NFL standard fantasy scoring, he put up 10 points. Imagine what Amendola could have done if he played the full game.

Even though, Amendola put up potentially good numbers, the Patriots listed him as a wide receiver two, behind Cooks. Although, wide receiver Julian Edelman is out for the season, and the lack of a strong connection with Cooks, Amendola will get more targets from Tom Brady. Plus, don’t forget the versatility of Amendola on special teams. Currently the Patriots depth chart has Amendola listed as their punt returner.

What To Do?

Danny Amendola hasn’t been drafted in most leagues. In two of the leagues that I play in, I have picked him up off of waivers. Good things are going to come from this guy. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t. He’ll be that sleeper you’re looking for. Look for Danny Amendola to be a solid flex option with a big time WR2 upside.
